Log onto the CBS website and take the poll — Let Them Know What You Think Of Designer Gaultier Using A Plus Size Model In His Show!
CBS) PARIS, France Fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier has stunned the fashion world by intentionally hiring a plus-sized model to strut her stuff on the catwalk at his latest show.
Obviously, Gaultier is making a statement about the recent controversy involving waif-life models.
Spain, in fact, passed a resolution to not allow anorexic models as they send a bad message to young women about body image.
Most designers hire models who are size 2 or below. The average American woman is a size 16.
Gaultier’s show appeared Tuesday as part of the designer’s 30th anniversary show in Paris during fashion week.
Tonight at 5, on CBS 2 News, we look at the controversy and how it’s affecting the business. Vote here and tell us what you think about Gaultier’s move: Was it a refreshing change or merely headline grabbing exploitation?

I think it’s good but why specifically hire someone overweight? It almost seems like he’s mocking the anorexic model ban.
How about just using regular size 8 models like they used to use?
I miss the days when models had curves and meat on their bones. The girls on the runway today are grotesque…
Arggghhhh! That didn’t come out right. What I meant was why don’t they use models size 8 and up like they used to? The never chose models for how bony and scrawny they were years ago.
