It’s not often that a manicure leads to a modeling career, but that’s exactly what happened to hand model, Ashly Covington, whose hands regularly appear in popular print ads and on television commercials.
When asked how she maintains picture-perfect nails all year round, she shared her dos and don’ts:
Do have a manicure at least every two weeks to maintain healthy-looking nails. Ashly keeps her cuticles smooth between appointments by applying cuticle cream daily.
Don’t cut your nails – just file them. Cutting your nails can crack or cause a split in the nail. If Ashly suffers a break in her nail she files it as far back as to not see the break. If the break is too deep she has a silk wrap applied to the broken nail.
Do use biotin supplements to encourage healthy nail growth from inside out. Ashly takes Appearex® daily – the #1 dermatologist recommended product for strengthening nails. Ashly’s hands are gorgeous! And she’s very generous to give us her suggestions and tips. Speaking of tips…nail tips that is…When I worked for a builder, it was very important to have beautiful hands and great nails to display information on bulletin boards and displays to potential customers. They watched your every move and followed your fingers to what could mean up to $800,000 or more for homes. I’m not kidding. It’s more important than many people realize to look the part.
But though I looked good, my natural nails were suffering.
I recently had some serious problems after using nail tips from salons. It wasn’t the application of them. So I’m not trying to bash any nail artists or any establishments per say.
Long nails are a beautiful woman’s dream. But healthy long nails are what we really want. In absence of them, we often seek a quick fix and try the acrylics and whatever else may get us through. But the damage done is horrible.
My fingers hurt so badly after having removed them that I thought I was never going to have nails again. I mean I felt pain each and everytime I turned on the water in my shower or sink. I couldn’t stand even luke warm water. I cried it hurt so badly.
And the cost…ouch! That hurt even worse.
I just made myself stop going because my finacial circumstances changed. The money I spent there was better utilized elsewhere…namely, groceries…etc.
So I went to my local drugstore, which in this case was CVS and purchased Sally Hansen’s products.
There is a Maximum Growth solution, which says beautiful “STRONG” nails within 5 days guaranteed! Now that’s a tall order. Plus, to be so bold as to guarantee it…well, that’s beyond confident. I was skeptical but I spent the $8 because I felt, if I’ve tried manicures up to $75, with tips and fancy wraps and whatever else,
why can’t I take a chance on this product. Plus if it doesn’t work, I can bring it back for a refund…so what have I got to lose?
MODELS…listen up–IT WORKS, IT WORKS, IT WORKS! Salley Hansen, does it again…and again. And
the tip revealed in this article about painting nails with light colors as opposed to the dark ones, is absolutely the best advice ever. I’ve noticed the big difference. I love my nails now. They’re gorgeous!
I clean houses in addition to modeling and I must say, the chemicals and cleaning products take a toll on your hands. But following the advice given here,
which is nothing new to me, because cocoa butter makes everything all good, has enhanced my loveliness! My hands look good and I’m proud to show them off.
Long beautiful nails makes me move differently, and makes me feel sexy and alluring. I pose my hands and extend them so that others can see them. I paint them every other day. I use the
Maximum growth and then follow with Sally Hansen’s Diamond Strength no chip nail color…very light color. Then I paint the tips with the same color-but twice. It looks like a professional French. I’m not kidding. I’m still practicing until I get it as near perfect as possible.
I’m not very good with my right hand yet because I’m right handed. But I’m working on it. And really, ladies, If you think about it: you can save $$$ by doing it yourself.
