With the great success of our January and February covers, I felt inspired by our readers to bring yet another “Controversial” issue to our editorial, color!
In the past, I can remember people telling me to not wear yellow or pink at a size 18 because I was too “big.” Yes, I bought into their words, as I am sure many of you have, and after a while black was the only color that I was comfortable in. It took quite a while to break out of this thinking… a great heartfelt “Thank you” goes out to those bold designers and clothing vendors who have ‘shown us the light…’ No longer are we disciplined into believing that color is not for curves, but instead belongs to all women.

I am so happy that someone is promoting color of any kind for women of size. I am a size 34-36 and LOVE color. I wear ALL colors even WHITE pants. Yikes! The trick to this is to wear a top long enough to cover the parts that you don’t want to show off. I work at Making it Big, a plus sized women’s clothing store in Cotati CA. I love to help our customers overcome the fear of color. I tell them to wear their favorite color, no matter what it may be. Mine happens to be red. Of which I have many items and wear several times a week. It’s just silly to think that a color will make you look larger. It may bring you more attention than black, but what is wrong with that?
