Need your opinion on this one! Brigitte, Germany’s most popular women’s mag, bans professional models…

Brigitte, Germany's most popular women's mag, bans professional models...So how often does a magazine say, “We are banning professional models from our pages and replacing them with images of real life women instead?” Ummmm, never?!?! Well that is EXACTLY what Germany’s most popular women’s mag, Brigitte, decided!

What do you think… is this a step forward for society as a whole in representing ‘real women’? Or do you like Glamour’s approach of changing to be more ‘inclusive’ of sizes? Share your thoughts!

That is awesome…more magazines should take a note from their play-book and do the same…if I saw a close friend of mine on the cover of any fashion magazine (plus or tiny sized) I would more than likely look at it and note the true to life person that every woman (or man) is, instead of try to obtain a “look” that is as unique to each person as their fingerprint.

I think this is a simply wonderful idea. It’s been long in coming. The fact is that REAL WOMEN are in the majority and our lives are controlled by the ‘professional’ minority.

This is good … this is an excellent thing and it will bear fruit …

    So Long OVERDUE,

I’M 6 FEET SIZE 14, AND CANNOT WALK DOWN THE STREET WITHOUT POSITIVE COMMENTS. SO YOU TELL ME!!!!!!!SO VERY LONNNNNGGGG OVERDUE!!GO BIG GIRLS, GO GIRLS OF ALL SIZES. BECAUSE WE ARE ALL, AND I MEAN WE ARE ALLLLLLL BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

I don’t know….I think it is good to have professional models. BUT I just think that there should be a wider range of the variety available. There should be models in all different shapes, sizes, heights, ethnic backgrounds etc. THAT to me will show a true sample of the “real” women while opening the work opportunities for more models. I do think that each curvy store or mag should celebrate one “real life” aspiring model or woman. It should be like a sweepstakes or something when you go to the store or get the mag…for instance, I LOVE ASHLEY STEWART! I would prob pay them just to see myself hanging in their store on an ad..why?? because it would be a dream come true! It would be like wow…you see me a regular customer dreaming of one day seeing myself hanging in your store confidently rocking your fashion inspiring someone else…wow..Hey Ashley Stewarts if you are reading this….consider a contest for your customers for the opportunity to win a photoshoot to rep your latest fashion and be hung in the store! I would love this!!!! It was Ashley Stewart’s “real sized” models who orignally inspired me to model and one day I will work for them…..:)

I gotta say, I think Germany’s idea is pretty cool. All of us are beautiful, no matter what size we are. The models are an unrealistic ideal, and to see regular women modeling the clothes would be fantastic. Then you can finally get an idea of how the clothes will really drape.
I do not think Glamour’s idea will work, because they say they will be inclusive, but their idea of a plus size is a size 8, which is absolute crap! A size 8 is NOT plus size; never has been, never will be.
