Will we ever see a size 18 in the very same position as plus size model Crystal Renn?

Once again, Glamour Magazine is stepping up to it’s word and including a “truer” representation of real size women by including the most successful plus size model on the cover of their June 2010 issue.

Renn will be joined  on the cover by Alessandra Ambrosio (Victoria Secret Model) and Brooklyn Decker (Sports Illustrated Model). Many are criticizing the size structure of the plus size models being featured on today’s runways and latest infusion of plus size models in main stream magazines but until the size structure within the fashion industry changes, size 12 is “plus”.

Will we ever see a size 18 in the very same position as Crystal Renn? What are your thoughts?

I would like to think so, but highly doubtful. Anyone above a 12 is considered by most of the world as ugly, unhealthy and undesirable. And I should also add lazy. I am over a size 12 and I know how most perceive me to be…. your judged on your size.

I am hopeful that we will. It’s going to be an uphill battle, but I’m very optimistic that it will happen. I think that we are slowly returning back to the days where beautiful, full-figured women were celebrated in early paintings and etc. Women looked like…women. The emaciated, boyish figure is going out of style. I am not one who wants EVERYBODY on a runway to be plus-sized, but EVERYONE on the runway shouldn’t be skinny either. That’s BORING! I think there’s room for everyone. And if you’re a reputable fashion designer, you should be able to design clothes for ANYONE! These designers need to man-up and rise to the challenge of creating clothes for people of various shapes and sizes. It’s only going to put more money in their pockets in the end.

  3. Krystle says:

I doubt it. They could have used a size 18 woman but instead the used a 10/12 in Crystal. I like her but she’s not a true representation to me of what a plus size woman is. Even a size 16 would have been better.
