Australia’s first event focused on a 100% targeted market of Australian women size 16+.
Aptly named Real Women Revolution, Mison and Brisbane based business woman, Erika Entz are launching the event to be hosted in Melbourne in March, 2011.
The all day consumer and trade event is designed to empower, foster and promote the Australian plus-size industry and it’s target market.
Janine, founder of Real Women Australia (www.realwomen.com.au) says: “During my journey developing my Real Women Have Curves business here in Australia, it has become apparent that there is a disconnection between Australia’s plus-size retail and service industry and the target customer market. It is also incredibly apparent that Australia lacks the standard of curvy fashion that is evident in Europe and North America. It’s time for Australia to demand quality and quantity when it comes to adding value to our image…”
“I am pioneering an event to further shape the plus-size industry of Australia. Currently Australia has very successful ‘mainstream’ fashion events, but unfortunately the plus-size industry gets overlooked. By creating this event, we will satisfy a huge need in our marketplace and marry the products and services to the target market.”
“Our focus is on providing plus-size women the tools to make the MOST of who they are TODAY. This includes providing them with an event that marries their needs with the service providers as well as workshops that promotes positive body image and a healthy lifestyle, regardless of size.”
This one-day Event offers ticketholders a chance to experience an empowerment packed day complete with workshops, a keynote speaker, a panel debating hot topics, fashion parades and an expo of plus size products and services. Tickets for the event will be released for sale on 1st August, 2010.
The initial launch will see a search for plus-size designers. Offering 100% targeted exposure; this opportunity is the first of its kind in Australia. With an independent judging panel, designers are invited to submit their applications in three categories, Australian plus-size designer of the year 2011, Australian plus-size designer – Bridal/Evening, and Australian Plus-size designer – Ready to Wear. Already this news is creating quite a stir with two exciting designers lining up to put their best foot forward. The finalists’ garments will feature on the runway during the event with the winners being showcased and announced at the exclusive Gala Dinner Evening.
Staying true to Janine’s passion of representing realistic REAL figure models, the launch will also include a search for THE FACE of the Real Women Revolution.
Applicants are asked to submit 2 images of themselves along with a video submission showing how they believe they are THE FACE of the revolution. A fabulous prize pool is on offer including a modeling contract with Curvy Revolution, official reign as The Face of Real Women Revolution 2011, a photo shoot valued at over $2700 and a year’s supply of makeup – along with photo and appearance opportunities and prime position on the fashion runway during the Real Women Revolution Event.
And for the first time ever in Australia, this event will feature only size 16+ figures on the runway.
