Welcome to the PLUS Model Magazine Fashion Issue.
Whether you pay $20 or $200 for an article of clothing, the look of it and how it makes you feel is your “Passion For Fashion”. In this issue, we are celebrating FASHION from big name designers and online retailers, to up-and-coming talent. Today’s “plus size” fashion industry is no longer the same; plus size women are no longer afraid to wear colors, wear designer clothing and demand fashion equality. If this describes you, this issue will be a real treat!
For this issue, I brought in Celebrity Stylist, Spry Lee Scott and photographer Stanley Debas, for our cover and fashion spread with cover model Sarah Flack. You have seen Sarah working for Torrid, and this month she reveals where else we will be seeing her, very soon.
Sometimes you just have to leave chance to the wind and try “it”; that is exactly what plus size model Stacey Hiett did when she began modeling just seven months ago. Today, she is one of the most sought after size 18 models and shows no signs of letting the “size debate” stop her from furthering her career.
Our interviews with MTV’s First Twitter Jockey, the ladies behind Project Curve Appeal and the blogger behind “Saks In The City” will inspire you to embrace life and not let anything, like your size, stop you.
We also want to welcome our newest staff member, Jennene Biggins. I’ve known “Gigi” to be a devoted plus size industry leader for many years. As our Public Relations Manager, she will be working closely with Valery and I to further the success of PLUS Model Magazine.
I also want to wish a Happy 10 year Anniversary to my better half, and a very important part of PLUS, Luke Jones. Luke has been shooting for ten years and loves the creative process with each and every model he works with. Over the years, Lucaspictures has helped to bring PLUS Model Magazine from its very humble, editorial beginnings, to where we are today. If you are interested in working with Lucaspictures, visit www.lucaspictures.net.
Lastly, for those of you who follow our blog, you received a message from my business partner, Valery Amador, this past week about our challenges within the industry. It was a very serious decision that was made to go public with the situation we are currently dealing with. When Valery and I came together four years ago, we had nothing but a desire to serve the plus size industry. That desire is still as genuine today, as it was in the very beginning. I pride myself in knowing that we built this magazine with a staff of people who desire nothing but the best for our readers. I read every post on the blog, facebook and email, and I want to sincerely thank you all for your support. It’s your words that helped me to face this new set of challenges, as we work harder than ever to bring the best to our devoted readers.
Hugs,
Maddy Figueroa-Jones
