PLUS Model Radio Theme Song Contest!

PLUS Model Radio, the #1 podcast for plus size women, will be conducting a contest to find a new theme song! The prize package includes:

- being featured in PLUS Model Magazine
- an interview on PLUS Model Radio
- 1 year silver membership to Plus Size Industry Professionals website
- song will be new theme song that opens PLUS Model Radio.

This contest is open to both professional and amateur songwriters. The only requirement is that the song reflects the theme of PLUS Model Radio and be original content.

Winners will be chosen by a panel of industry professionals who will judge entries on originality, melody, composition and lyrics.

Criteria for Composition
The selected song will be used as the anthem for PLUS Model Radio. The song should be catchy, moving, and use language that speaks to our audience. The lyrics should relate to the shows theme, and perhaps contain key words or phrases. The song should be melodic and easy to pick up.

Criteria for Submission
Uploaded submissions with an mp3 (or similar) file attachment are required.
Submissions must be received no later than 11:59am PST on Friday, March 26, 2010.

Selection Process
All submissions received by the deadline will be reviewed and evaluated by the judging panel. The process should be completed and applicants notified of final decision by March 30, 2010.

Use of Selected Song
The selected song will be used in the promotional purpose for PLUS Model Radio. Please note that PLUS Model Radio must have the right to use the selected song in any format at any time without the need for permission from or compensation paid to the composer or other copyright holder. If the finalist cannot meet these conditions, then another song may be selected. All entrants must sign a general release or be eliminated from consideration and made ineligible to win any prize.

PLUS Model Radio Celebrates 2 Years, Launches New Website, and Welcomes New Contributors!

Los Angeles, CA – February 18, 2010 – PLUS Model Radio with host Chenese Lewis, the #1 podcast for plus size women, which premiered March 17, 2008 is celebrating its two year anniversary! In two years the show has had amazing guests, tons of valuable information, a consistently growing fan base, and has the entire plus industry tuning in faithfully. In celebration of PLUS Model Radio’s anniversary a new website for the internet radio show will be launched March 1st, 2010, as well as a theme song contest, and exciting new additions to the show.

The newly designed website for PLUS Model Radio goes live Monday, March 1st, 2010. PLUS Model Radio aims to extend the reach of the show by serving a broad audience of listeners interested in entertainment, modeling, fashion, size acceptance, and philanthropy. The new website features expanded content and streaming media including over 50 episodes related to the plus industry in the permanent archives. The website will give the audience a place to not only listen to the show, but also have valuable show information and resources at their finger tips. Starting March 1st the newly launched website will be available at www.plusmodelradio.com

PLUS Model Radio will also introduce new contributors to the show that will keep the listeners informed with the latest news in the plus industry. The new contributors include: Madeline Figueroa-Jones, editor of PLUS Model Magazine and co creator of the PLUS Size Industry Professionals website. Sage Salzer, plus supermodel who has been featured in print campaigns for Curvation, Fruit of the Loom, Lane Bryant and in-store posters can be seen regularly at Catherine’s, Fashion Bug, Kohl’s, Target, and Walmart. Erica Watson, actress, stand-up comedian, and film/television director who in 2009 appeared in the Lee Daniels film “Precious,” and is currently touring around the country with her one woman show “Fat Bitch” and Aimee Cheshire, former plus size model turned blogger and creator of MadisonPlus.com, the premier fashion site for the modern plus size woman.

In celebration of the two year anniversary PLUS Model Radio will also hold a theme song contest encouraging artists to write an original theme song for the show which is a great opportunity to for an up and coming artist to gain exposure within the plus community. The prize package includes in addition to your music being heard weekly on PLUS Model Radio by thousands of listeners, an interview on the radio show, a feature in PLUS Model Magazine, and a one year subscription to the PLUS Size Industry Professional website. NEW YORK, NY (January 14, 2010) – PLUS Model Magazine, (http://www.plusmodelmag.com) the premiere virtual magazine celebrating the plus size fashion, beauty, arts and plus size modeling industries, today announced that Mandy Muenzer, PLUS Model Magazine’s first West Coast Model Search winner, will grace the cover of the February issue. The winner was announced in December on PLUS Model Radio by Lisamarie Audiss of Brand Model and Talent Agency, who has signed her to an exclusive 1- year modeling contract. Muenzer, who was a finalist on FOX’s More To Love, also won a campaign with Hips & Curves, in addition to the cover and editorial of PLUS Model Magazine.

This month PLUS Model Magazine also welcomes former plus model Tulin Reid Emre to the staff as Marketing and Advertising Director. Tulin served as Vice President of one of the largest online media retailers and Marketing Director for several online business, including plus size apparel. V Magazine “The Size Issue” Foreward Sneak Peak!

PLUS Model Magazine got an advance copy of the V Magazine Forward that will appear in highly anticipated Size Issue, which will be on newsstands January 14th!

Body size. Presently, it’s a subject of great debate in the fashion industry. In one corner, editors are calling for an end to size 0 clothing samples; in the other, designers are whittling down the women in their ad campaigns to cartoonish proportions. Everyone, it seems, has voiced his or her opinion on the issue, making it one of the most highly-blogged and heavily Twittered about topics of the day. Here’s our stance: big, little, pint-sized, plus-sized—every body is beautiful. And this issue is out to prove it.

We fell in love with our cover girls Dakota Fanning and Gabourey Sidibe, both of whom have shed stereotypes and shaken off their fair share of negative attention to become two of the most thoughtful and intriguing young actresses in the movies—as well as Oscar hopefuls. Our bets are on Sidibe winning Best Actress for her powerful role in Precious, and no doubt, every designer will be fighting to dress her for the red carpet. Suddenly it’s all about character, and less about being impossibly tall and achingly thin (but hey if you got there naturally that’s cool too). The eight actresses in our portfolio of the year’s great performances embody this evolution of the starlet into a newly-nuanced, highly-sensitive being.

But back to that whole size thing. From the female bodybuilder Lisa Lyon to the former Mugler muse Dianne Brill to the rising knitwear designer Mark Fast, this issue celebrates all those who have changed the shape of beauty and expanded the notion of what could be chic, sexy, or runway-worthy. Looking forward, we hope to do the same. To that end, our pages feature women of all sizes—from the curvy model Crystal Renn to the burlesque dancer Dirty Martini to Kenita Miller, star of the musical The Color Purple—as seen through the lenses of Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Bruce Weber, Karl Lagerfeld, Terry Richardson, Sølve Sundsbø, Sebastian Faena, and Terry Tsiolis.
