   “It’s Time to Talk About It” 

 NEDAwareness Week Collage Contest!

 In your ideal world, what would mass media look like?

 NEDA wants to know what you think our media culture could look like if

• It helped facilitate high self-esteem
• It represented diverse conceptions of beauty
• People were valued for attributes other than looks
• There was no airbrushing
• Advertising didn’t exploit insecurities
• It celebrated creativity in self-expression 

We invite you to enter your commentary and/or criticism in the NEDAwareness Week Collage Contest and show us where you see media activism taking us.      

What do you get if you win?

If you are chosen as the winner of this contest, your collage will be featured in the NORMAL In Schools (NIS) Gala Fundraiser, Inside Out…Experiencing Normal, and on the homepage of the NEDA website!  In addition, you will receive a free gift bag of NEDA gear! NORMAL In Schools (NIS) is a 501(c)3 arts-and-education organization which brings NOR•MAL (a hip, rock ‘n roll musical), an accompanying curriculum, clinical psychologist and person-in-recovery to schools to educate about eating disorders and related issues.

 What are the collage contest requirements?

*A collage is a work of art on a single surface composed of various materials not normally associated with one another. 

•  You cannot submit any images that infringe or violate someone else’s rights or violate the law.
• You must submit your collage photo via email* in a jpeg file format (limit 2 submissions/person)
• Physical dimensions can not exceed 36” x 48”
• Your collage must address the theme question, “In your ideal world, what would mass media look like?” 
• Your submission must include:
  • Your first and last name (if you do not want your last name listed publicly, please make a note in your submission email)
  • Home state
  • Collage title
  • Description./artist statement (optional), 200 words maximum
  • Collage dimensions
  • Email Address
  • Phone number

 The deadline for submitting your collage is January 15, 2010, 12:00 noon EST.  If you are selected as the winner, your original collage must be framed and delivered to NORMAL In Schools by February 10, 2010.

 Any submissions that fail to meet these requirements will be ineligible.

 How do you submit your collage jpeg?

 Please email your submission with the information required above in the body of your email and the jpeg attached to neda@myneda.org.  Do not send the original collage to NEDA. The deadline for sending in your submission is January 15, 2010, 12:00 noon EST.  The winner will be announced January 25, 2010.

 How will the winner be chosen?

 After submission acceptance closes on January 15^th, the judges will review each eligible entry. Our panel of judges will be made up of members of the 2010 NEDAwareness Week Committee and NEDA staff.
